OVERVIEW

BACKGROUND

For better communicate within the family

Have you talked face-to-face with your parent lately?
How many photos of your parents are in your album?
Do you know what your parents like?

Looking back, I suddenly wondered—when was the last time I had a proper conversation with my parents?

I kept postponing calls, using work as an excuse, thinking, “I’ll call them later.” And when they did reach out, our conversations often ended awkwardly after a brief exchange of pleasantries.

Despite being the closest people in my life, why does our relationship sometimes feel so distant?

PROBLEM

Family members struggle to have meaningful conversations due to lack of shared topic

Families often struggle to find shared topics, leading to surface-level conversations. Revisiting past memories can provide common ground, turning everyday interactions into deeper, more meaningful discussions.

SOLUTION

Turning Family Photos into Conversation Starters

To bridge the gap in family conversations, we propose an interactive photo album where members can share, comment, and react—turning memories into meaningful discussions.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Understanding Why Family Conversations Feel Limited

To better understand the challenges in family communication, we conducted desk research and gathered key insights on how people perceive conversation within their families.

As a result of our research, we gained the following insights. It became clear that there is a lack of shared experiences, leading to lower-quality conversations. We also found hints suggesting that recalling past memories can help people overcome difficult situations.

USER RESEARCH

10-20s Children and 30-50s Parents

Family dynamics vary, from elderly parents with grown children to young parents with toddlers. Our research focused on 10-20s children and 30-50s parents, the group with the least communication. To explore this issue further, we conducted a survey.

Survey Overview

Target :
100+ children (10-20)

40+ parents (30-50)
